Too dangerous for the outfielders who would either trip on the tracks or get hit by a train.
Or the train could derail.
Should have had a bus with the message just drive around instead.
Some minor league fields do have unusual circumstances. Bluebird Field, the one in the film did have a train track just beyond center field. It has since been torn down.
