Scorsese's Top 5 Movies

I think this is one of Scorsese's best movies, it's just really quite incredible. Such an awesome script and a funny, yet dark and enjoyable feel.

My top 5 of his films would probably be:

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. Taxi Driver
4. The Departed
5. Gangs of New York

Honourable Mentions: After Hours, The Aviator, The King of Comedy

What do you think are his top 5 movies. Hard to choose, hard to choose.

Only two things are actually knowable:
It is now and you are here. All else is merely a belief.

The first two are sort of tied...

1. Raging Bull- 10/10
2. Taxi Driver- 10/10
3. GoodFellas- 9/10
4. Casino- 9/10
5. After Hours- 8/10
6. The Departed- 8/10
7. Mean Streets- 7/10
8. Bringing Out the Dead- 7/10
9. The Age of Innocence- 7/10
10. Shutter Island- 6/10
11. Hugo- 6/10

Mean Streets could very well make the Top 5 but really needs a re-watch. The first two are both in my top ten.

I suppose:

1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. The Departed
4. Shutter Island
5. The King of Comedy

I haven't seen: Raging Bull, Mean Streets, The Last Temptation of Christ, Age of Innocence, After Hours

Honorable mentions: The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Casino, Bringing Out the Dead, Cape Fear

Not-so honorable mentions: Hugo

reply

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. The Wolf of Wall Street
4. The Departed
5. Taxi Driver

All of the above I would rate 10/10. But really the only film I haven't completely loved from Scorsese is Hugo. And I definitely don't think that was a bad film, it was clearly brilliantly made. It's just the only one I actually found to be boring personally. I'd give very honorable mentions to Gangs of New York, Mean Streets, Shutter Island and The Aviator. Still haven't seen After Hours, Casino, or Bringing Out the Dead but all are definitely on my must-see list. Scorsese is my favorite filmmaker of all time regardless a little bit ahead of Tarantino and Kubrick. Such an incredible filmography!

It is over-the-top.
It is over-the-top bad.
I doubt it should make his "Top 10".
The original was better, a lot better.

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. Taxi Driver
4. After Hours
5. Casino

Hallelujah.
I was actually insulted by the mindless brutalization of the original (which I saw almost immediately afterwards - and totally by chance didn't know they were linked at all. "Jeez, that was exactly like The Departed, only WAY better. I wonder...")
Scorsese's biggest fumble
