Scorsese's Top 5 Movies

I think this is one of Scorsese's best movies, it's just really quite incredible. Such an awesome script and a funny, yet dark and enjoyable feel.

My top 5 of his films would probably be:

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. Taxi Driver
4. The Departed
5. Gangs of New York

Honourable Mentions: After Hours, The Aviator, The King of Comedy

What do you think are his top 5 movies. Hard to choose, hard to choose.

Those as the top three for the time capsule are non-negotiable (though you could switch up their order) if you want to be taken seriously. After that, it can be more a matter of taste. I'd go with:

4. The Last Temptation of Christ
5. Mean Streets (this was like nothing else at the time - a preview of the great work that would come)

Honorable Mentions: Scorsese's segment of New York stories (which blew the doors off Coppola's and Woody Allen's parts), The Aviator, The King of Comedy, The Departed

"Boy that was really exciting. I bet you're a big Lee Marvin fan aren't ya."

I'm just checking your math on that. Yes, I got the same thing.

I know that's a lot to tie for 5th but those are all equally awesome movies in my eyes.

My list is always changing depending on my mood, however Goodfellas is usually the reigning champ.

I especially like the cameo by Scorsese in Taxi Driver. It showed how rapidly he speaks. I assumes he thinks the same way....He is Fascinating!
