Scorsese's Top 5 Movies

I think this is one of Scorsese's best movies, it's just really quite incredible. Such an awesome script and a funny, yet dark and enjoyable feel.

My top 5 of his films would probably be:

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. Taxi Driver
4. The Departed
5. Gangs of New York

Honourable Mentions: After Hours, The Aviator, The King of Comedy

What do you think are his top 5 movies. Hard to choose, hard to choose.

The reasoning behing Shutter Island, is simply this: Scorsese went way out of his genre and brought us one of the most messed up realities to ever be explored in the history of cinema, period. I mean the impact of this movie ranks up there with altered states, which i considered to be one of the most pleasently disturbing movies made to this day, Shutter Island reaches all whole new pinnacle in the mystery of the the unknown and dark places a human mind can travel to, and the sheer emotional impact, and stress one must endure through his travels. I mean the whole idea to have a narrator or main character as unreliable as he is, just astounds me. Andrew Laddieus is the most confused and emotionally corrupted characters ever in a movie

After Hours has to be his most underrated movie and one of the most underrated and under appreciated movies in modern times, IMO. Great movie.

As good as his early to mid period stuff is, Scorcese's recent movies are pretty mediocre, IMO.

Nobody has mentioned 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore' (my own favourite).
Why is that?
