It's amazing how some of the intro musics are butchered beyond belief.

The pilot's music is actually pretty darn good compared to some seasons' intros.

Avoid season one (01) intro musics, it has been CUT in so many parts, it's not even funny!

Where the listener expects a certain bit, it's been cut to a much shorter version, so it sounds horrible - to mention the 'intro of the intro', which is now half as long as it should be, then the 'explosion part with the logo' has much fewer 'tomtom's than it should, maybe about six instead of the usual eight?

Comparing these intro themes, I expected them to butcher them and make them shorter by the seasons 04 and 05, but I certainly didn't expect the FIRST season's musics to be THIS butchered!

Weirdly enough, they 'corrected' this for season two, so that might be my favorite version, although it already has that annoying high one-note thing going in the background that they 'embellished' this song later on with, but this is a solid, more synth-y than the pilot, but at least it's intact, unlike season one's music, and it's still raw, down to the core without too many violins or Simmons drums they peppered the later season intros with (while cutting them down, expectedly).

The original pilot intro song is around a minute and ten seconds, and so is season two and three, but season ONE (of all things) is already down to only 45 seconds, just like season four and onwards.

It's interesting to follow the progress of a theme song throughout years, you can clearly start hearing the nineties soulless influences in the later seasons, while the earlier ones still radiate the bright eighties excitement.

It's like a cook putting too many spices to hide the bad/mediocre taste, or you have to put too much sugar in your coffee to hide the bitter taste; so is the case with all the 'extra notes' and added Simmons drums in the later seasons.


To me, the best versions of the songs are Season Two and the Pilot - the shortened versions are garbage, but season ONE has the worst version by far, as it is cut WRONG (important parts instead of the non-important ones that simply repeat).

I don't think theme songs should ever be cut anyway, but that's corporate capitalism for you, everything gets butchered to make a buck.

As a sidenote: 4:3 shows getting CROPPED to 16:9 must be the worst corporate crime after making slave kids make your shoes without pay so you can rake a huge profit.
