Too bad Dewayne committed suicide at the end, he seemed the wisest of all the kids. I thought there was a follow-up on the documentary that specifically answered that question? As I don't see it on imdb, I guess there wasn't a follow-up...


By the way, does anyone know the title/artist of the song that is played at the end while the credits are shown? Thanks.

Ratt went missing shortly after the film, he is presummed dead. People believe that the older gentlemen he was hanging with killed him. The scene were he is on the train was actually the last footage of him taken, and was the last time he was seen.




IT ALL HAPPENED SO FAST

I was a runaway in Seattle 4 about 3 years, but was not in the movie or in the life publication however, I knew a lot of those kids. We used to hang out at the orion center in seattle. It was considered a safe haven during the day. I was abused by my psychiatrist father who gave me meds since I was 2 years old and by my mother who was just plain nuts. I was bounced around from place to place until 12, when I ran away and became a street kid. Some of the girls in movie ended up being victems of the Green river killer, others? WHO KNOWS. Patty and Jerry came to austin Texas in 1989(with no baby)They stayed there 4 about 5 monthes and went back 2 Seattle. Jerry is in a band know. Havent talked to him when are father figuire developed pneumonia and nearly died. My life and others were completly changed by the system. There is not much help for those that just take off. I have been doing a little and I mean little research. Someone has posted on Mboards that Patti past away due to aids. I would like to know the year. I am scratching my head on this comment. If it was before 1989, then it's not true. She came to Austin that year with jerry. Unfortunatly, there are a lot of rumours of what has happened to these people. Rat wanted to go to alaska to work on fishing boats, whether that is true that he went, no one knows. The man he was sitting with near the end of the movie was an ally drunk, every one knew him. The underpass is where he slept. To anyone who really knows where these people are, let me know. And if anyone hears from them, tell them that "whip" says hi. This is a true move about life on the streets. I lived it with these kids. Juvi was my second home. If I remember right, it was on Capital hill. They had a SPU unit. The reason why I am bring this stuff up is that the truth is out there. And that I lived it with these people. I may not have been in the movie or lifes story, but I lived it. I knew each and every single person portrayed in this film. I have the answers for only the serious people, not about where are they now, but what was it like, how did you get there.ect. Does anyone know they name of Lulu's brother? I do. I am 40 now and still think about the goofy things that we did. For someone reason I feel compelled to talk about this, do research and write the book. Maybe, if I can find out what I can about my fellow street folks, than answers can be givin. There were many more kids on the streets of Seattle then what everyone saw. Try hundreds more. First and pike, Gunthers donut shop, the place 2 be if you were a runaway. Penny's corner, second and pike. Those are memories that I will keep forever.

I don’t know if this is the same Kim I new. It looks like her. I heard that Kim was in the 1984 documentary Streetwise that was filmed in Seattle. I’ve never watched the movie to confirm the rumors. Years later I heard from several people that she was murdered. For the longest time I accepted her fate as fact without ever checking for myself. The years have now gone by. Just wondering if Kim is still alive and how she is doing. I found an article online about the movie and it said Kim moved to New York? Also...photo online looks like Kim.
