Why exactly did everyone have to wear.....

a costume during the carnival?

I know that it's a good plot device so that Louis can put on Stan's mask and fornicate with Betty, but why did everyone attending the carnival need to be in costume, let alone random costumes? Like, costumes that weren't coordinated by fraternity/sorority or whatever.

reply

I’ve wondered the same thing over the years and can only assume it was meant to support Lewis’s getting closer to Betty.

reply

Thanks.

They could have at least announced that the carnival had a costume contest. Otherwise it was Ogre wearing like a viking costume, Stan as Dracula?, Betty as a cowgirl, and Takashi as a native American....totally random with nothing to do with a college carnival!

reply

Maybe because it was supposed to be a carnival and everyone had to dress up? Not everyone did, by the way. Poindexter is in his regular suit and Booger is just wearing regular clothes.

reply

Ok, but who dresses up in a COSTUME to go to a carnival?!!! They were wearing costumes like you would for Halloween. It just made no sense.

No rhyme or reason for it!

reply

I don't know. Maybe it was part of the whole competition.

reply

Made complete sense for the kissing booth.

Kissing booths can fulfill a fantasy, and some men like the idea of kissing a cute cowgirl or women kissing a muscle bound Viking.

I've seen kissing booths setup like that before in the 90s. Haven't been to a carnival/fair in a while, not sure kissing booths are allowed these days given herpes lol.

reply

It was fall... maybe Halloween?

reply

I just say its a plot hole and move on. This way you don't waste time thinking about it

reply

Many colleges have costumed events. It's not unheard of.

At least you got confirmation that it's not a plot hole.
