Is this movie intentionally gross

Watching this for the second time now, I think Sergio Leone was trying to be blatantly disgusting. Just about every single one of the characters had completely disgusting rotted teeth, the women were all disgustingly ugly, an overweight young girl who will bang you if you feed her a cream puff, the skin on all the actors looked like it was made out of plastic or something, the blood they use for special effects looked like red paint, any time somebody was eating it was just foul looking, there were graphic and completely unbelievable rape scenes that had no relation to the plot, Robert DeNiro’s mole looks like it was digitally enlarged, etc. I get that it’s the 1930s but good lord it’s like he’s trying to make everyone vomit
