Is this any good?

Been on my watchlist for like two years. I see it's getting a 4K release soon.

Worth checking out?

It's a decent 1980's sci-fi/horror/action film. I liked it better than the similarly titled Night of the Creeps (I think the plot is similar as well).

Oh. I do enjoy Night of the Creeps.

The thing is from what I've heard of Night of the Comet is that most people singing it's praises have a lot of nostalgia for it and seen it as kids whilst others who have checked it out recently for the first time say it's not up to much.

Thanks for your input.

If you enjoyed Night of the Creeps, it's definitely worth a watch. It's a fun, low budget 80s Science Fiction/Horror.

DISCLAIMER: I was drunk when watching this.

Finally checked this out last night. Decent enough light hearted fluff. I once saw someone say this film feels like a collection of scenes as opposed to a strong linear story, I sort of understand what they were getting at.

The strengths of this film are the extremely 80s aesthetic, the two leads are likable and there are some funny pieces of dialogue in this.

As I sort of cottoned on, a lot of the people praising it have a lot of nostalgia for it and also a hardon for the 80s. Anyone outside of this bubble seems to fall into the 'it's not great' or the 'it's decent enough' camps.

Ultimately I don't think it rises above being a decent way to kill 95 minutes. Alright flick but nothing special. I'd give it a 6/10.

I recently rewatched it for the umpteenth time and I still love it.
But you may be right, I was 11 or 12 when it came out so the 80s nostalgia is pretty strong. Your rating of 6/10 is fair but Iā€™d give it extra points for having Kelli Maroney dressed like a cheerleader spraying a Mac-10šŸ˜„

It's a guilty pleasure.

Even at 40 years old (holy shit!) the post apoc atmosphere is my favorite part. There's some good end of the world jokes and decent characters. But yeah nothing really exciting happens in the film as it's more atmospheric.
