At least this one is exotic

With its beautiful locations, Temple of doom is more exotic and aestetic than the others 2.
In the first and the third, you mainly get desert, dry streets, and desert. And university.

In TOD, we see asian elephants, palm trees, rapid rivers, snow, jungle, indian palace, rope bridge, cliffs, bats, and beautiful landscapes.

Well, I thought ROTL was pretty exotic too (taking place in Egypt, & all that).

LC while not exotic, did have some beautiful scenery, taking place in Venice.

I am back. Did you miss me???

reply

Did you mean RLA (Raiders of the Lost Ark)?

THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!

reply

That is because this one was actually shot in Sri Lanka and Florida. All the others were shot in Morocco and had TONS of matte paintings to set the rest of the background.

Yes, and this exoticism fits very well the pulpy inspiration of the saga. Of course, fighting nazis is also very pulpy, but I'm glad this one showed that Indiana Jones could do other things apart from fighting nazis.

reply

It was refreshing that this one has nothing to with nazis.

Temple of Doom has always been my favorite and feels like a genuine adventure film.

reply

Yeah except it was a terrible film with cheesy writing and bad special effects.

ROTLA and TLC are miles ahead
Of the other 2 films.

reply

Not terrible, but a huge step down from a masterpiece like Raiders.
But I also appreciate the exotic adventure side.

reply

You might like Romancing the Stone. More realistic than TOD. Good movie.

reply

Quite different in spirit, more romance and way less action.
It is a great movie.
TOD is criticised because of the high expectations vs subpar delivery, but it's not a bad flick.

reply

If TOD hadn’t been affiliated with Indiana Jones, it would’ve been on par with Leonard Part 6.
