Does anyone remember seeing the gruesome photograph the newpaper's printed of Kovacs accident? I remember my mother showing me the picture and even as a child I was appalled and thought something so graphic was most unnecessary for a man that brought us so much happiness.

That sounds awful. Especially in 1962! I have no trouble believing that would be printed nowdays because the press tends to get away with anything, but I find it shocking in the early 60s.
I do agree with you. The guy needed to be remembered for the laughter he brought to us.
