The Director's Cut is on Amazon Prime

it adds more dancing sequences, as well as more footage added to originally released dance sequences.

The only drawback is I thought Francis had shot more establishment scenes involving the black people in Harlem and how all of the gang drama of the Syndicate and the segregationist world they lived in being a big part of the contrast.

I think Bob Evans really pushed to highlight the Dixie/Vera love story so we are still stuck as them being the center focus. However, I just found everything else more appealing, even back stories to Dutch, as well as Owney and Frenchie and the goings on at the Cotton Club in general.

"The only drawback is I thought Francis had shot more establishment scenes involving the black people in Harlem" ...why is that a drawback?

I wanted to see more background into all of their characters from the dance troupes, Bumpy's gang and the other black gangs, as well Harlem overall.
