why was action and violence dropped after season 2 ?

S1 and S2 had some car chase and action scenes in nearly every episodes

from S3 car chases became VERY rare, maybe 3 chases in a WHOLE season

is there a reason for that ? creative or maybe budget?

Probably criticism from the Tinsletown mob. They didn't like independence and manhood standing up. Too Reaganesque.

Nah, the first season actual had bad ratings, which didn't improve until it was moved to a better timeslot plus the retool.

Because little tykes like me were watching to hear "Works for Me"

Roy Huggins saved the series in the second season.

The show's second season benefited from the inclusion of Hollywood veteran Roy Huggins, who previously worked on Maverick, The Rockford Files and The Fugitive. Acting as executive producer, Huggins softened the violence, made Hunter less volatile, and placed an emphasis on the chemistry between Hunter and McCall. Also, the setting moved from the gritty and dangerous backstreets to posh areas of Los Angeles, and a Mob-related subplot from season one disappeared.
