Back then I used to read all the science fiction magazines and I never heard of this...

Was it never released or something? I had no idea this even existed. I can't recall any mention of it in Starlog or Fantastic Films or any of the other SF movie magazines. I do not remember it coming to theaters at all.

I think it had a limited release in the US initially showing in a few cities only. It was first shown at Cannes Festival which very often show films with limited release.
