Imagine if filmmakers were more serious about the whole Superman turns bad concept

Isn't part of the allure of Superman as a character is that he has all the powers of a god, yet steadfastly refuses to reject his humanity? In other words, Clark Kent is just a good country boy who just happens to be from a species that can develop sun-powers. And “Superman” is just how Clark publicly identifies to maintain some normalcy.

There could be real drama that's told in the whole "Superman gets tempted by the Dark Side of the Force" type of story. Superman could have nightmares involving him losing control of his strength and hurting the people around around him. This makes it seem all the more important when he really does lose his cool and fly into a rage.

The moments when he does let loose and embrace his superhuman side become incredibly significant. He so resolutely wants to remain human and so wants to embrace maintaining his identity as Clark.
