Even though he clearly lived a life of sin,he died for a noble cause, Refusing to kill two innocent kids. Maybe that landed him in Purgatory?

I believed that he just got respawned to the nearest hospital. The real bad news is he lost all his weapons and a lot of his cash...

Possibly, although since he obviously didn't like working at that restaurant as a dishwasher, his punishment in Purgatory would be to wash 150 trillion dishes.

You bring up a good point but I don’t think saving the kids was enough to redeem himself.
