How refreshing for a movie like this not to take itself very seriously
It makes it a lot of fun to watch and, despite its length, very easy to sit through.

And that's why I LOVE this movie! It has history, it has adventure, it has science and geekery, it has terrific acting, and it has a hell of a lot of laughs.

I've only read and re-read the book a million times! Love it!
And another reason I love this movie is because it's a surprisingly faithful adaptation of a book that I would have sworn was possible to adapt to the screen. The film is not only very historically accurate as movies go, it captures the charm of a very unusual book! And it's just a blast to watch.
