Octopussy or Never Say Never Again?

The 'rival' Bond movies released in the same year?

I actually prefer NSNA

reply

I preferred "Octopussy" - at least it was fun in its way. NSNA was just so... so... boring.

reply

Yes you are right! The boring Never Say Never Again was more for grown ups I think!

NSNA is the clear winner for me. I like Maud Adams but Octopussy is my least favorite bond movie.

reply

Octopussy by a mile but i do like NSNA

Octopussy wins by a long shot. NSNA was just so..... dumb, and only a revisit to one of Connerys previous Bond movies, so it seems just a little pointless to me.

Well, none of them is a classic, but I prefer Octopussy.

Never Say Never Again of course has an awake Connery (which is an improvement over his performance in Diamonds Are Forever) and some lovely ladies, including a smokin' Kim Basinger.

Octopussy, any day of the week and twice on a Sunday!

NSNA was so incredibly boring, visually unappealing and Connery looked TOO old.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Yeah. That. There is no contest really. NSNA is nothing but a quick cash grab by Mr. Connery (after saying twice that he never would play Bond again).

reply

Octopussy, and it really isnt even close.

Never Say Never Again is missing too much to be chosen as the better Bond film. The lack of the classic Bond theme or a great score in general really hurts the film.

Also, as others have said, it's really just Thunderball all over again and quite pointless.

I know there are some fan edits out there though that incorporate the Bond theme and change some other scenes, I'm interested in seeing one of those. Can't seem to find any full ones though. Shame.

Look at that turtle go bro!

I honestly don't really know anymore. I usually would've said NSNA, but over the past few years I've really grown to appreciate OCTOPUSSY. I think they're both very underrated movies.

NSNA has the advantage of Connery who actually looked in better shape than he did in Diamonds are Forever, and he looked slightly interested.

However the recycled plot ruins the movie, and Kim Basinger just is not as great as Domino in Thunderball.
Barbara Carrera on the other hand was awesome. I did like the motorcycle stunts as well.

Octopussy is a bit of a hit and miss. It had a good plot, but too many subplots and it got too goofy in places.

Honestly neither one was legendary. It was just nice to see Sean in action as Bond one more time. And it wasn't as cringeworthy as Diamonds Are Forever.

No contest: Octopussy. I like Connery, but NSNA was a pointless movie. A remake of Thunderball which is far worse than the original.
