Was Kim Basinger miscast in this movie?

She didn't seem to have much chemistry with Sean Connery (Basinger was supposedly cast upon the suggestion of Connery's wife) and she literally looked like she could be his daughter. For people who complain about Roger Moore's latter Bond movies, pairing him up with women who were twice younger than him, the same thing clearly goes for the other Bond movie of 1983. And plus, Basinger herself, seemed rather stiff and uninteresting (outside of just being window dressing) as Domino.

I wish Basinger had played Stacy Sutton in A View to a Kill. She was a better match for that character than Tanya Roberts, who arguably gave the worst 'Bond Girl' performance ever.

I would say Bond with younger women is an obvious combination.

Maybe his wife recommended her because she didn't see her as a threat?

I want to say that Kim Basinger was 29-30 when this movie was made whereas Sean Connery was about 53 at the time. I still attest that Kim practically looks and acts like a little girl comparatively speaking next to Sean Connery.

No she was great in this and Batman, and is one of the few genuine 'movie star' Bond girls, perhaps the biggest one. others to varying degrees - Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Britt Ekland, Alison Doody (bc of Last Crusade), Famke Janssen, Michelle Yeoh, Sophie Marceau (bc of Braveheart), Denise Richards, Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike, Eva Green, Monica Belluci, Ana De Armas
