Question about Christine before Arnie..

Ok we watch this film a lot. It isn't my favourite horror film, but it's almost a perfect film, in my opinion. Anyway. Here's my question.
When Arnie first lays eyes on Christine, and talks to LeBay about her, Dennis questions LeBay about why if his brother loved Christine so much, why is he selling her? LeBay responds by saying, "Because he's stone cold dead, that's why.. died 6 weeks ago. So if his brother just died 6 weeks ago and loved her so much, why do you think Christine is in such bad shape? Hubby and I think that maybe she was so connected to his brother that as he got older and his health deteriorated, she did as well. Maybe she needed someone young again, and maybe that's why she called out to Arnie.. what are your thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

I think your idea is very good, and I also think King made a huge oversight here. Nothing else explains why he let the car go so badly. I mean, his wife and kid both had died in it, and he still loved it, and supposedly was planning to use it as a receptacle for his own soul. Unless he had been severely sick for over 20 years he would not have let it get so badly out of shape.

Thanks for your reply!! I completely agree about it being an oversight and no explanation. I love the interaction between Arnie, Dennis, and LeBay during that scene.. LeBay is awesome.
