What happened to Rudy? And why cut Amelia's death?

At some point, he just sort of disappeared from the movie with no resolution for his character, dead or alive. Bernadette was after the whole top ten, but Rudy disappeared and Amelia was left living in a catatonic state because her death was "too graphic for an R rating." That blows.

Bernadette was the first victim, Ann was the killer. She only took out the ones who didn't show up for Ginny's party, so that excluded Amelia, Rudy, and the other blonde girl (Maggie?).

You answered your own question about the cut murder - the MPAA were cracking down on slasher film grue when this came out.

reply

Yeah I guess I did LOL. Still sucks though. I heard it got filmed, but the clip is not to be found anywhere. That sucks too. I would like to have known how her murder originally took place.

Axe in the head. There are some stills online from lobby cards the studio published, but the footage itself has never surfaced.

Shame, the film is in need of a little more grue and about 15 minutes cutting from the less interesting scenes.

Cool creepy photo. And by today's standards, pretty tame. I guess times have changed. That would never have been cut today.

I watched the movie last night, it's very nicely made for its era, but man does it DRAG on and the revelation really is stupid, but at least enjoyable.

reply

I agree there. There was so much unnecessary stuff that could've been left out. And the revelation WAS disappointing, except for the fact that it left Ginny completely insane and holding the knife, which actually makes the FILM'S ending quite tragic, regardless of who the murderer was.

reply

I read that they changed the ending well into production - it was supposed to be Ginny possessed by her mom's vengeful spirit!? An evil-twin reveal could've been cool, though The Initiation pulled that stunt to better results in '83.
