If Alice hadn't walked outside...

Would Michael still have killed her? IT looked like he was gonna pass by until she came out. ANd he was like damn you kids make it so easy to kill ya lmao. I was gonna leave yo ass alone.

Not necessarily. Myers was shot up and pissed off & she just happened to be there. She was an easy target, he knew the police we're down the street looking for him; so he just offed her and then continued on. It amazes me he would want to waste the time on her but whatever.

reply

Lol it makes no sense. HE left the Elrods alone but he just HAD to kill her!

reply

This has been discussed before at length. No witnesses. She heard the Elrod scream, investigated, Michael knew she'd do something about it, whether go over there or do what she did, get back on the phone with her friend. Had she hung up, called the cops for the domestic abuse she thought was happening, they'd find out Mrs. Elrod saw him, saw the blood on the cutting board (he was wounded at the time) and gotten closer to tracking the wounded Michael who at that point didn't have a destination in mind. The hospital wasn't revealed to him until after that. So he couldn't risk Alice calling the cops for any reason.

That's it. Wrong place, wrong time.

reply

That doesn't make sense. Michael wasn't worried about Alice calling anyone. He just left a bloody cutting board at the Elrod's house. You think he wouldn't worry Mrs. Elrod would call the police? Hell he just left her screaming her head off.

Nah...Michael just wanted to kill Alice once he saw her. That's it.

Hey now. Dave said this has been discussed before at length. Respect his wisdom. He's been here 14 years. One account. No socks. Lol.

Don't call it a comeback. I've been here for years.

reply

Well it doesn't really make sense does it? I can't be alone here in not agreeing with this reasoning. If Michael was going to kill someone he would have slit Mrs. Elrod's throat immediately. Then Harold would have gotten up and it would have turned into a full out brawl and God only knows who would have won that one...but Harold would definitely give him a run for his money!

Makes no sense at all. Who is more likely to call the cops? A woman who just hears that the police has found 3 bodies nearby, a killer is on the loose and then finds blood on her counter, her knife missing, and proceeds to scream bloody murder? Or a girl who hears the scream and blows it off as the lady getting what she thinks is a deserved beating?

Haha, a Harold/Michael brawl would have been funny.

The police were already looking for him...She said ''I can hear the sirens'' before being killed...

Always remember...Don't be a sucker.

reply

Down the street. So yes, they were close, but not close enough. Had Alice called, they'd have gotten closer.

reply

Closer to where? The Elrods, who are already calling the cops?

Here's Alice on the phone to the cops "Hi. I just heard screaming from my neighbour the Elrods. Oh they called you already. So they're both Ok? Good. Thanks. Bye. "

Sending threats. How pathetic...

reply

He killed Alice to shut her up about Mrs Elrod screaming? What about Mr and Mrs Elrod?

And Michael already knows the police and Loomis are looking for him close by. The opening shot of the whole scene established that fact. He sees them for goodness sake.

Stop Alice from reporting to the police what Michael knows the police already know.

Why didn't Michael just go right back upstairs and kill Loomis and Laurie if that was his motivation?

Wrong victim. Wrong motive.

Carpenter added it for the Gore factor, really.

reply

There's very little gore. It's an action scene, not a splatter moment.

reply

Well, you see the blood splatter up on her neck. Worse than anything in the original.

reply

She left her front door unlocked. That made it easy for Michael to kill her. People need to remember to lock their doors.

reply

[deleted]

Michael has been locked up most of his life, he broke out and was just shot 8 times. So do the math..... Alice was an easy target, and dead girls don't say NO

reply

She was gonna call the cops, possibly. She should've minded her own damn business.

reply

He was going to snuff her regardless. He was on his way over to her house before she even came outside.

reply

No he wasn't. Why would he? He needed a knife, he got one. Mission accomplished. He wasn't going door to door looking to kill people otherwise he wouldn't have stopped with Alice. Domino effect. And why pick her? There were several other houses in the neighborhood to see. That too would have slowed him down, caused problems and diverted him from his main goal which was to get away. As was said, he only got a bead on Laurie after the radio announcement. He wasn't about to search aimlessly for her.

 Why would Michael prevent Alice from telling the cops about Mrs Elrod screaming but not shut Mr & Mrs Elrod up? They were already calling the cops no doubt.

reply

Watch the movie. After he left Mrs. Elrod screaming he was headed right for the door that Alice came out of. He only stopped when Alice came out. Why would he be headed there? To get another knife?

I'm not saying it makes sense because most of what happens in the Elrod/Alice scene makes none at all, but you can't deny that he was walking right for her back door.

reply

I don't think he was walking for her door, either. She came out, then he killed her. Had she not come out, I don't think he'd murder her.

I watched Halloween II last night, and after the movie I watched one of the documentaries on the making of it. It was stated that Carpenter was the one who added the girl’s death to this scene. I’ve always believed Carpenter was wrong when he said the times had changed and the audience would demand more gore. Audiences don’t need gore if it’s a solid movie that’s suspenseful and scary. Halloween II didn’t need the added blood; it was already a strong movie that was respectful of the original.

I’m hoping someday we can see the original Rosenthal cut (not the TV version).

reply

Looking back, in the whole series, this was the 1 kill that didn't make sense. There was nothing to gain from this. She wouldn't have called the police; she went back to her phone conversation!
But that aside, I liked it. It added an extra element of creepiness right from the start that sets up the rest of the movie.
