Ushers in the mediocre era of Cheech and Chong films

True, there are some clever bits and some of the premises are funny (the "ice cream" truck comes to mind), but compared to first two C&C films, this movie is a downer. The cast from the first two are here and everything should work, but it just doesn't. Suffering from lazy writing and moments of sheer absurdity (e.g. Stacy Keach turning into a lizard), the movie meanders through several ridiculous plots, using realistic and unrealistic devices and situations along the way. For the sake of viewing the complete, original 1978-1981 Cheech & Chong "trilogy", all fans should see "Nice Dreams" at least once...sadly, unlike 1978's "Up In Smoke" or 1980's "Next Movie", this is by and large forgettable. While a little bit better than what was to follow with the likes of "The Corsican Brothers" and "Things Are Tough All Over", "Nice Dreams" seemingly ushered in the beginning of the end for the (otherwise) brilliant comedic stoner duo's film career.

To me this is the last watchable Cheech & Chong film, it's not as good as Up In Smoke or Next Movie but I'll gladly watch it over their later sequels.
