Morty Seinfeld

I am sure many fans of the movie will notice that Jerry Seinfeld's TV dad plays Liza's dad in the movie. (Barney Martin aka Morty Seinfeld).

Since Liza and her dad live in Queens perhaps their neighbors were Frank & Estelle Costanza!!

I like to think of is as Linda's dad playing the part of Morty Seinfeld. Not the other way around.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

reply

That's true although most people know Barney Martin from Seinfeld.

reply

I've seen every "Seinfeld," but strangely enough, it didn't dawn on me that Jerry's dad played Liza's dad here until I read your post. Could Jerry and Liza be siblings? Now that is a comic goldmine!

he was ver yfunny in this. when i saw him in seinfeld i thought "oh, that's great casting, he was so funny in Arthur."

I was just watching "The Millennium" episode of Seinfeld.
Kramer and Newman is arguing about who is gonna have the
New Year's party.

Newman says he started planning his "Newmanninum party" in 1978.

I put a deposit down on that revolving restaurant that overlooks
Time Square.
And I booked Christopher Cross!

And later Kramer says something about
being caught between the moon and New York City...

Not only that, but the guy in the coffee shop that they keep yelling to "Eat your roll!" is Elaine's father on Seinfeld, Lawrence Tierney.

Newman says he started planning his "Newmanninum party" in 1978.

Now we KNOW Newman is a liar!

Nobody knew who Christopher Cross was before he won an Oscar in 1982

(Ok,maybe they did,but not in the context of the Seinfeld episode joke ;) )

Barney Martin played Liza's husband when I saw her on Broadway in Chicago in 1975. She took over for an ailing Gwen Verdon.
