I don't have any problem with the line - and in fact, think just the opposite as you. I think that it's definitely something that a woman would say.
And I don't think that seven is slutty at all for a woman her character's age. And three one night stands - eh, they happen. And three isn't all that many, especially for 1981.

Let me put it this way.
It was more "acceptable" decades ago.
It's all really down to the individual.
If you have a man/woman actually actively seeking a long term relationship and that hold those kind of stats that early....yeah something is amiss.
If you have a man/woman just "enjoying" their life and wanting casual sex and nothing more...not really.
I think people are more "careful" now than back when this flick was made.
But it's not only a generational thing, it's also a regional thing too. Some countries are more open in regard to sex than others.

What do you mean early? and somethings amiss...You never know at what point in life someone is at when they decide to start a serious relationship..
In this case the woman obviously was in her mid to late 20s...4 partners where boyfriends and 3 were 1 night stands...There was no indication of when it started but if we imagine her out to be an average young woman she probably started around age 16-18...so that could give her from 8-10 years to rack up those stats. Its really not that slutty of you think about it...i just think some guys have a problem with a woman having any sort of history

shareI say more power to her if she's had seven lovers. I consider three to be sufficient for anyone, but that's just me and certainly not a judgment against anyone who's had more. I guess I just don't see any reason to have had sex with more than three, or four people tops, in one's life when you consider all circumstances like one night stands, serious partners and perhaps one randomly casual fu*k, lol. But then, that being said I'm damn near a loser who will be lucky to land a couple lovers in my life. Up to now, two guys have offered, but the first happened when I was too young to be worried about that stuff (still in junior high) and the other guy was a jerk who wasn't going to get anywhere near my bedroom, i.e. not appealing to me at all. As for the guys that I would have been more than happy to include as a notch on that proverbial bedpost, I never even got so much as a chance to date, let alone sleep with. Such is life.

Not trying to be creepy - but from your post, I'm assuming that you're an inexperienced young woman. I think that you might be surprised about your own ability, for even a "loser" to acquire some bedpost notches. Not that that's all that you're looking for. But I don't think that you should be so down on yourself.
As far as your two offers - junior high is too young - so you made the right choice there. The other one, a "jerk" - so again you made the right choice for yourself. But I'd imagine that you'll have other chances, if it's what you really want. You might just have to be more forward, or lower your own standards. And alcohol never hurts, B-)
