Who were the female smurfs?

I've only seen 2 females on the smurfs. Smurfette & the little red head smurf. Were there any others?

that is smurfette. i think there are 99 smurfs and one smurfett. basically gargamel dicided to lead the smurfs away by making a femele smurf, aka smurfett though she was evil hence the dark hair but she realised she wanted ot be good so papa smurf turned her good ie a blonde...with 99 smurfs & 1 smurfette, who the hell is baby smurfs dad?...total slut

If you're interested in discussing Smurfs further, it is worth checking out BlueBuddies where there is a great discussion forum.

We've put together as many of the Smurfs that actually appeared in the series to see how many of the blue creatures we actually knew by name. Here are the results thus far:

From the original 100:

1. Papa
2. Brainy
3. Hefty
4. Handy
5. Jokey
6. Smurfette
7. Nat
8. Slouchy
9. Snappy
10. Grouchy
11. Greedy (comic book, Greedy and Baker were different)
12. Dreamy
13. Wooly
14. Nobody/Somebody (one off)
15. Vanity
16. Clumsy
17. Lazy
18. Poet
19. Farmer
20. Tailor
21. Harmony
22. Painter
23. Tracker
24. Miner
25. Weakling
26. Scaredy
27. Editor
28. Reporter
29. Flighty
30. Sweepy
31. Weepy
32. Sickly
33. Dabbler (Where he became a doctor for a short time)
34. Timber
35. Sloppy (Recurred three times)
36. Nosey
37. Timid (Who then became Actor)
38. Tuffy (recurred in a few)
39. Pushover
40. Marco
41. Medic
42. Vanity's double (from the HUNDREDTH SMURF episode)

The additionals are:
1. Sassette
2. Grandpa
3. Baby
4. Wild
5. Nanny
6. Clockwork Smurf
7. Clockwork Smurfette

Therefore Smurfette, Sassette and Nanny were the female Smurfs.

There is a female smurf other than smurfette. i saw it on tv the other day. I was a little confused because i only remembered the one female smurf.

Well, there is Smurfette, Sassette (a smurfing with red pigtails), and apparently there is also a Nana Smurf. Gee, I must have missed that season...

But if you are interested in seeing more smurfettes check out my website. I have created a whole village of smurfette counter-parts to some of the smurfs.

Here is a link to my fanfiction stories all about the introduction of the smurfettes: http://www.theravenchild.com/smurfsficpage/

and here is the link to the artworks of the smurfettes (also other smurf art that I drew). Simply scroll down and there is a list of links to different pages: http://www.theravenchild.com/fanartpage/

I would love to hear from you on what you think...Enjoy!

While the male smurfs can and will have a crush on Smurfette, there will be no sex within their society.
It is even so that baby smurfs will literally be delivered to the village by the stork!
Really, the old masters of Belgian comics were forbidden to make even vague references to anything sexual.
And it was taken to silly extremes sometimes.
But that is also why André Franquin had to make the marsupilamis lay eggs even though they're mammals.
Afterwards, he came up with the official explanation that they're monotremes.
But it was originally because Franquin was forbidden by his publishers to portray a live birth!
You can argue that the smurfs and the marsupilamis are fantasy creatures and won't be fully realistic anyway.
And the comics were also primarily made for children in the beginning.
We have to remember also that the Catholic Church still had a lot of power in Belgium until relatively recently.
And yet, it is laughable in retrospect that it went this far.
But on the other hand, it is very possible that Peyo liked that he didn't have to give Baby Smurf a father.
This made it possible for the whole village to raise their future leader as a community.
And despite what most people think, Smurfette was never Baby's mother either.
Thus, she is free to remain innocent and not be more tied down to one male smurf than to another.
And as for Franquin and the marsupilamis, it is maybe a good thing that he didn't get to portray a live birth.
Other comics have solved the issue of a childbirth in a different way than having the mother lay eggs though.
Usually, they just keep the icky stuff off screen and don't show the baby until it's clean after the birth is over.
