Is it just me, or is Sagan's voice super annoying after a while?

I'm at the end of the 3rd episode, and it's driving me crazy how slow and slurpy he talks. I love the series and all the information, and his enthusiasm is obvious and nice... but he sounds mentally handicapped.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced a similar frustation.

Long vowels have become such a pain. I'm tempted to find a way to fast forward to make him talk twice as fast.

I love the way he talks, and the way he emphasizes words. It's mesmerizing listening to him, and I mean that in it's original way. He talks like a hypnotist. And he's inspiring, and he's just so awe struck of this wonder he wants to tell us about. He wants to inspire us, he wants ut to feel that awe... I could listen to him all day...

I really like my voice and tone!!

Don't forget. Carl Sagan wasn't just the narrator.
These are his words. His writing.
Who could ever be more expressive than the poet who reads his poems?
Who could be more appropriate other than the composer to play his melody?

Even the best voice over artist or actor couldn't be able to touch to the audience, the way Sagan did.

After more than 3 decades the choice for Sagan to be the narrator has proved itself.
The series might not be a success if it had, let's say, Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones to present it

Yes, Sagan had a way of making cosmology poetic. Here's the introductory narration that still inspires today:

"The Cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be. Our contemplations of the cosmos stir us. There’s a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation, as if a distant memory, of falling from a great height. We know we are approaching the grandest of mysteries."

That's exactly how i'd describe him as well, poetic.

I absolutely love the way he narrates Cosmos. I have an audio version of the series and i often listen to an episode as i go to sleep at night.. I just find his voice soothing and poetic.

Carl Sagan is the ubermensch. Slander him at your peril.

I disagree. I think his voice is magnificent.
