Time Bandits has been in development at Apple since 2018, with Waititi joining the series in 2019 as an executive producer. He also co-wrote the pilot for the series with Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris and will direct the first two episodes of the 10-episode series. Time Bandits is produced by Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC Television. Terry Gilliam directed the original Time Bandits film, which was released in 1981. The film featured several popular actors of the decade, including Michael Palin, John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall, Craig Warnock, Kenny Baker and Ian Holm.

It'd be hard to top Gilliam's own particular... er... idiom. With that said, Tim Bandits could make a lovely series, since the different time hops and capers could be slotted into an episode show reasonably well.

The trick, though, is that the film is very weird and diving into its world could be beneficial or detrimental, depending on how well-thought out it all is.
