Is there a slasher movie with fewer killings than The Shining? Only Hallorann gets killed and Jack freezes to death. Most viewers probably wouldn’t call The Shining a slasher film in the sense of like Friday the 13th or Halloween, but I’m sure many went into the movie theater in 1980 thinking it would be a blood bath.

True. It managed to keep suspense by him being menacing with the threat of violence, but the body count was low. If it is done right, I don’t think you need a high body count to make a good horror movie.

its not a slasher movie, so it shouldn't be compared to one
