Good through 6. Started flying off track at 7.

I love this franchise. I love Crystal Lake, the seclusion, the darkness, the stupid teens and the awesome kills. But for me, this great franchise simply ends at Part 6. Seriously, I normally bitch when a horror franchise doesn't change it up a bit, but I think in this particular case, veering so far off track took away all the things from the franchise that made us love it in the first place. Part 5 was a bit of a stretch, but it was psychological, not supernatural. Other than that, here is my reasoning:

Part 7: Jason v Carrie??? Seriously?
Part 8: Decent kills, but we lost the dark seclusion of Crystal Lake.
Part 9: Body hopping into whomever eats your heart?
Part 10: Do I even need to comment?
FREDDY v JASON: I gave this one a pass, only because I'm a fan of the Nightmare series and chose to view this as an installment of that.
REBOOT: I stand among the minority who DID like this one. We got our Crystal Lake back.

I'm all for keeping it fresh, but in the case of Friday the 13th, changing it up (especially to THAT extent) took away what made this one so great.

Any thoughts?

It started going off the rails after Jason got a haircut and grew a foot taller in between parts 2 and 3. Maybe he gets a nice discount at the Crystal Lake Barber Shop.
