No animal should ever be killed for a film

It doesn't matter if it is for shock value or whatever. It is cruel, unnecessary and just sick. Now i know there are a lot of immature people who will respond with 'how cool' it is to see them die, etc. But honestly, it is not. This is just absolutley pathetic and should have never happened and should never happen again.

There's an animal killed in Apocalypse Now. But the filmakers didn't kill the animal, they filmed a group of tribal people do a sacrifice that they do all of the time.

CGI SUCKS

reply

A movie seems to have larger impact than actual news or some demonstration, why killing a few animals in a movie make people talk about it, instead of ignoring the billions killed in the anonymity of slaughterhouses all around the world. Might they died for the purpose of reminding us that we are all murders, if only by profiting of the killings.
Not that I really care or would become vegetarian, but maybe a few minutes of thoughtfulness ain't the worst thing before getting to the next burger

reply

I don't think any animal should be killed for food, either. Killing an animal for food, and killing them for filming purposes is all the same to the animal. It's painful. It's also unnecessary and sick, no matter how you try to justify it. Either killing animals for our own selfish needs is okay, or it's not. Why are we allowed to have it both ways?

"Feed me a stray cat."

reply

no animals killed for food? we are omnivores hence we eat meat. carnivores eat meat should we make them stop? We have a very complex brain enabling us to reason with such things and your reasoning is absolutely ridiculous.

reply

It does not make any difference whether animals are killed for food or just for entertainment purposes. Same thing.

reply

There is a clear distinction between slaughtering an animal for food and for pure entertainment.

Animals should only be killed when necessary in the most humane way that reasonably possible.

reply

who's to say when it's necessary? i don't eat any animal so i don't think animals need to be killed at all. i'll tell you one thing i'm not gonna do though, i'm not gonna bitch about a director killing an animal for a movie, nor am i gonna bitch about people eating meat. people are gonna do what they're gonna do, complaining or worrying about it isn't gonna change anything.

"I wrapped his ding-dong in seaweed and he's been smiling ever since!"

reply

"Who's to say when its necessary?"

LOL, anyone with half a brain can make a decent assessment. Only an idiot will try to argue not to eat meat. We are omnivores, just as probably the majority of animals are (or carnivores), it is completely natural. Killing for sport or entertainment purposes is a different story. If you must, I think it should be a kill shot, not skinning an animal alive.

I support the ASPCA.

reply

i don't care what you support. humans don't need meat, i haven't eaten animal, meat or dairy, for five years... and i guarantee i'm more fit than you. i just said i don't tell people what to eat, but you have to? you're showing your ignorance. now go complain about some more old movies.

HA! I bet you are in great shape, LOL.

Did I tell people what to eat? No, I was merely trying to point out to you crazy people that it is natural to eat meat.

I wonder, how far does your hypocary go? Would you happen to be pro-choice?

reply

Oh wow.

Some of you said you are not going to watch a movie from the 80's because it has, oh my, ANIMAL CRUELTY! Hell of a protest there, I'm sure you all will make a dire impact on the movies' profit.

Seriously, it's the same thing as people protesting meat consumption by NOT eating meat. Yeah! Stick it to the man! The animal has already been killed, why let the meat go to waste and deprive yourself of proper nutrition?

Some of you need to get over yourselves, animal cruelty exists, and will always be there. We aren't exactly a perfect species here, and killing of animals (not only for food, for pleasure and ceremony also!) has always been prevalent throughout our history.

Just to note, I am no supporter of animal cruelty myself, I despise it. But it just seems that most of you are making absurd comments to make yourself seem morally justified.

reply

It's my choice to not eat meat, I'm not protesting anything. I don't attend rallies, I don't call for the stoppage of animal testing, if you wanna get down to it I'm more concerned with homeless people than a rabbit in a cage. How I eat is what I think is best for me and for all these years it's doing me better than fine. If one day I die because I didn't have a steak then come piss on my grave, I don't care.

I don't live in a fantasy world where I think the meat industry will some day vanish. None of my friends or family members follow the way I eat and I make no judgments on them, I also don't make judgments on strangers for the way they eat. But I will ridicule people that put their foot down for animal safety for a movie, or for sport, when they don't mind it on their plate. It's being a hypocrite and it's *beep*

I'm way over myself.

reply

I read through this post, and I commend you on having the courage to speak up about the slayings in the film being no worse than in the meat industry.

I love how people here can say I love meat, but I don't like animal abuse...but, get offended and say you are being contradictory when you merely state your veganism, which is a lifestyle that is anti-animal abuse fully(?).

So cheers for you. Thought I'd add support for ya, though I don't think you need it with all the poorly-structured arguments against your opinion.

PS-to people claiming we veg's are all PETA supporters. PETA is a joke that gives the vegan community a bad name; even us vegans laugh at their aggressive methods.

reply

"The animal has already been killed, why let the meat go to waste and deprive yourself of proper nutrition?"

I think you're confused about the meat industry. People don't just find dead animals lying around so your idea that meat is going to waste is absurd... It's a matter of supply and demand, the animals aren't dead because of some accident but because there is a market for them.

reply

We eat what we kill!

One shot to the head and they don't feel a thing.

It's a way of life. In fact some people can't afford to purchase 'store bought' meat and they have to hunt their own.

I mean if ya'll want to get technical aren't plants living things too?

I mean we can't be biased now can we?

A few other posters have compared the treatment of plants to animals as well, and such a weak argument makes me wonder what you're doing commenting on something you obviously know nothing about. If you want to get 'technical', plants lack a central nervous system, which makes them incapable of feeling pain.

I have a brain twice the size of yours. It's science.

reply

Not the point "macho" woman, the point is why would you enjoy looking at a creature suffer? When you kill an animal out of necessity, you should not savor the moment, but rather get it done as quickly as possible.

Okay, and I'm trying to point out to you, crazy person, that it isn't natural for human beings to consume meat. Now you wanna debate abortion with me? You really are an idiot.

"I wrapped his ding-dong in seaweed and he's been smiling ever since!"

reply

touche. I became athlete AFTER I stopped eating meat.
And I'm quite good at it.
And I know a lot of really hudge bodybuilders who are vegan.
So yes - killing animals is in fact totaly unnecesary.

If it would be common to eat old people, than I'm sure all of you would say that killing old people is ok, when it's necesary.

People you are dumb brainwashed idiots. Thruth hurts.
