I think the final motive revelation was ridiculous.

Yeah it was a weird change from the source novel. The book wasn't a murder mystery, it told you the who/why in the first chapter and the only tension was whether or not Natasha would figure it out before she got whacked. They also changed the killer's identity for the movie... but not the motive.
