Three of the Worst Movies Ever Made in Such a Short Time

This abomination kicked it off, but the golden age of horrible movies is the trio of Sgt. Pepper, Can't Stop the Music, and The Gong Show Movie. All made in the late 1970s and released from 1978-1980.

Have there ever been three other movies so horrible released in such a short period of time? If someone released a dvd of all three together there would never be a need for waterboarding.

I have never seen Can't Stop The Music, but having paid my hard earned money to see the other two in theaters, I am inclined to agree with you.

Way back in the day (October 1981), I just graduated boot camp, and the book Rolling Stone Book Of Rock Lists (or something similarly named, just came out. WMMR in Philadelphia was giving away copies, if you could answer questions about the lists in the book. The DJ asked for one of the movies listed as the worst rock and roll movies. I answered with this crime against humanity, and it ranked as the worst rock movie ever.

How could you forget Xanadu?

Xanadu and Sgt. Peppers must have accounted for about 60% of the cocaine trade in the US during those years.

After Grease--everyone wanted a hit musical. Also see Times Square (the movie) 1980. HOWEVER- if you EVER get to see a movie called The Apple (1980- again) it makes any of those bad , tacky, garish, misfired, air-headed BOMB movies look like Citizen Kane or The Wizard of Oz or Gone with the Wind! It's that BAD!

I'm going to have to watch Times Square again. I don't remember a thing about it, but I think I liked it OK at the time.

Don't forget: KISS meets the Phantom of the Park and the Star Wars Holiday Special also came out in 1978. What a year: it really was that weird!
