Star Wars: Princess Leia's Hair Buns Have An Inspiration Most Fans Don't Know

Longtime "Star Wars" fans will likely be interested to learn more about Princess Leia's iconic hair buns and what exactly inspired them.

It's not just the Hopi "Squash Blossom" hairbuns that could have been an inspiration. There is a similar hairstyle from the medieval era in Europe (14th century to be exact) that was done that way, but with actual twin braids, not twisted hair. It was said to be inspired by ram's horns.

I noticed at least twice with Padmé's hairstyles, she wore stylized twin buns as well, such as when she was packing to leave Coruscant to go into hiding in Episode II, and when she told Anakin she was pregnant in Episode III, she had twin buns that were much more like the Squash Blossom hairstyle mentioned above.
