WHAT was the MAIN REASON that Lucas MADE THIS MOVIE?
And please, PLEASE do not say it was to make tons of money.
There MUST'VE been a more tangible reason related to the good of humanity.
He did study film. He had written/directed several movies (as a student / professional).
I've always considered Lucas to be an EXTREMELY talented - creative story writer.
So much so that he had to start his own special effects company in order to be able to make 'real' his imagination.
He just needed to tell his story... which was inspired by other films in the same genre (adventure serials etc).
He always had an affinity for cars (speed - action - adrenaline).

His weaknesses are writing dialogue - directing actors - not that great editor.
