Is it just me or did Buford T. Justice seem nicer to Junior in the sequels than in this movie?

I did notice that Buford T. Justice seemed nicer and more tolerant towards Junior in the sequels than he was in this movie, while I think this was the best movie but I prefer the chemistry of Buford & Junior in the sequels than this movie.
