What on earth made Jack, Janet and Chrissy think that Mr. Roper was leaving his wife for somebody else?

The show was based around Misunderstandings. That was pretty much the whole surmise.

Jack, Janet and Chrissy kind of got the wrong idea when Mr. Roper dropped hints to them about who was moving out.
