such a nice reaction to that baby!!! i felt that i love polanski when he slapped that little boy who was crying in the park for his stupid boat !!!!!!!!!!
anybody feel the way i do ?!???

It is more funny just the way the kid is crying about his damn boat getting lost, he's like being operatic about it. That made it all the more annoying that the guy just wanted to smack him after all the stress he's been going through with neighbors. Of course, the kid was just being a kid who cries about losing his toys, so he wasn't being a total brat. The slap did work nicely though is unleashing Polanski's rage on the world around him and it just gave the kid more to cry about than a stupid little boat.

you're an idiot. the boy wasn't being a brat, so stop classifying him as such. the film didn't intend for him to be a brat. and the scene wasn't funny, at all. i thought it was appropriate scene considering his mental state, but was otherwise neutral.

it was an interesting moment, once again beloved for the wrong reasons by abject morons. the collective iq of the first few posters here wouldn't surpass room temperate.

Its a genius moment perfectly acted by Polanski. Its jet black comedy. I defy people not to have a glimmer of guilty satisfaction watching that scene. Its all in the dialogue.

lol but he literally ran away! so i lost all respect...i had hoped he would dunk the kid in the lake and then shout for assistance and then say 'im going for help' and run away and everyone would wait for this help while the kid screamed and caught pneumonia but it would never come and maybe Roman would watch from a far dressed as a woman lol = that's what I did...i mean would do...i mean if i had to....um....MENTAL film.

Well, actually I think it was a bit uncalled for... The boy was just being a typical little kid. Trelkovsky should have just left.
