Why don't people lock their damn doors?!

I don't give a crap how small your town is or how safe you feel, locking your doors is ALWAYS the best thing to do. Also never open them unless someone you know has called ahead or you're expecting a delivery. For as smart as Rynn was, she sure lacked any sense or intuition. Also, if someone does threatens you in your home, call the cops immediately.

I just hate scary movies in which the main characters are dumb.

no one did, back then

We just didnt want a cleanse of our town if u couldnt rip your clothes off.

Um, yeah. Why don't they lock their doors? I've seen a number of posts on NextDoor where people complain about their cars being rifled through, but hey! The owners forgot to lock them! Sorry, no sympathy for those who don't take basic steps to protect themselves.

And yes, I've seen plenty of movies where the main character is dumb. 🙄

I live in Chicago, and I have noticed in some of the more upscale neighborhoods, a few people are more nonchalant about locking their car and house doors. I just shake my head.

Same here. I also have some concern for my daughter. She often leaves the side door unlocked when she leaves. She lives in a small town (about 1200 people), but crime can happen anywhere.

So true, but what can you do? In addition, many people do not use curtains, shades, or blinds anymore. You can look right into their dining or living room passing by their home. I feel that is an invasion of privacy, but it's me, in addition to asking for trouble since I have seen grand pianos and other expensive items. I am an honest person, but what about the others out there?

reply

My shades and blinds are down when darkness falls. I don't want to be "on stage" to passersby. You never know...

reply

I mean, she should've locked the door, yes.

But considering what she had in the cellar for half the film, calling the cops would've been just as dumb.

Plus, she had a lifetime supply of cyanide and almond cookies to deal with anyone who dared walk through that door.
