Sad that this film is now ruined by pedophile controversies

TWO pedophile controversies ruined this movie:

1) Stephen Collins, who, two years ago, was exposed as a proud, remorseless, soulless, shameless pedophile rapist by TMZ, and by his ex-wife, Faye Grant, effectively ending his career.

2) Technically, she didn't **** up in any way. But Jane Alexander's son, however, did. He was busted for child pornography a year ago, effectively ending his career. His punishment is 10 years probation.

Sad.

reply

Those are horrible events, to be sure. But they have nothing to do with the film.

reply

Well, it ruins it for me. Because why hasn't Jane Alexander commented on her sons' trouble? Why hasn't her daughter-in-law and children commented on this? They owe us an explanation. They really do.

reply

They really don't.

reply

Because Jane Alexander's personal heartbreak isn't any of your business?

reply

Agreed that it has no bearing on the film.

I decided a long time ago to ignore actors' and musicians' beliefs, politics, or personal lives. If I let this stuff bother me I wouldn't love a HUGE chunk of the music and films/TV I've loved over the years.

reply

Exactly. I watch movies for the sake of the movies themselves and to appreciate the work that directly went into them, not to revel in things that have nothing to do with the movie.

do you have any idea what Hoffman did to Streep in the making of Kramer v Kramer ?

did you know Ben Bradlee lied under oath re JFK having an affair ?

the film makes Bradlee out to be this unbreakable pillar of integrity fighting tooth and nail to tell the truth about Nixon

reply

Really, they don't. This is a moot point, and totally unrelated to the power of this movie.

reply

3) Hoffman is the spittin image of Polanski these days

reply

It was a great movie. It was the truth. Smearing the actors personal lives is pretty low.

If Jane Alexander's son's problems ruin the movie for you, why did you watch it? What a terrible thing for her to have to deal with. I hadn't even heard of it till coming here.

This stuff actually seems tame compared to the crap that's getting dumped on us daily now.

Did that audio tape of Trump bragging about grabbing women by the pussy sicken you? (Bet it didn't)

reply

As everyone else has said, those two controversies have absolutely nothing to do with the film. Stephen Collins only played a minor character and Jane Alexander's son was 12 at the time.

It's important to realize that films are not individual efforts and normally require dozens to even thousands of people in production. If you really feel that the actions of someone- Alexander's son- who had absolutely no part in this movie's production bring it down, then you probably shouldn't watch any major film or TV production, because it's certain that for all of them, there was at least someone involved somehow in production- or related to someone involved in production- that's done horrible things.

reply

This movie isn't ruined.

I think this movie is actually enhanced for you because you have a reference point around which to enjoy and share your pedo scandal appetite.

reply

Watergate was not about children. It was about elected officials lying under oath.

reply

?

I don't get what that has to do with my post that you've replied to.

reply

I was pointing out that the film was not ruined. The focus of the film had always been about the president of the united states and his associates lying under oath about tampering with the political process. There were no children in it. Watergate itself had nothing ever to do with children.
