Shame the series ended the way it did


Because it had a good start. Lots of brilliant British actors.

Episodes very similar to the original Avengers. And the combo of Steed, Purdy and Gambit worked very well, and there were funny parts and lines.

But you can see the episodes where the production company was starting to run out of money. Fewer British actors. Hardly none toward the end. Real stories and not the fanciful themes we were used to.

I have to say I didn't watch all the episodes in season 2. I just got bored with the heavy Euro aspect and actors. The stories boring. I think I quit with about 4 stories to go. And I could see Lumley and Hunt were becoming tired of it. As was Macnee, who looked like he was falling asleep toward the end.

Yes, it was. I thought Hunt and Lumley were perfect additions to the Avengers family and I'd love to have seen at least one more season (but of the quality of the earlier episodes).
