Availability?

Does anyone have a clue where one can find a copy, preferably on DVD? Saw an VHS in a second hand shop years ago and the cover was intriguing, I curse myself for not buying it...

I just saw the film and came here to IMDB to read the reviews, and saw your note from not too long ago. I got my DVD-R copy from Video Search of Miami (if you're not familiar with them, just Google the name and you'll find them). You'd have to have DVD player that can handle DVD-Rs. It's a dubbed version, not great visual quality, but perfectly watchable, with what appear to be Swedish or Danish subtitles. Since it comes from VSM, there is no box or anything, just the disc. Until someone puts this great film out on DVD it is probably the only way to see it.

I just got a copy from this place. Excellent service. Wish they had more giallo films, though.

I just got a copy on vhs from amazon under the title "Primal Impulse"

Just got my copy of Sinister Cinema's 2009 catalogue (sinistercinema.com), and they have it listed as Primal Impulse. Have not seen the copy they sell, but I've gotten other DVD-Rs from them, and they usually use first-generation 16 mm film copies they procure, of course digitized to DVD, not too bad. Gives the DVD-R a real "filmic" quality. Going to order it and will update.

It will be available end august on an official pal dvd from Shameless Entertainment.

On 29th August (2009) Footsteps (aka Le Orme) will be released as an offical region-0 disc in the UK from Shameless. We have a review copy, and this blows away every other edition put out around the world. It's 1.78:1 anamorphic, with both English & Italian audio, with optional English subtitles.

There are few nice extras, and it's a lovely package.

If you can play PAL discs, then this is a must to import.

Hope this helps, guys.

Brilliant news! And long overdue!

It really is a magnificent film. The ending has to be one of the best endings I've seen for a very long time. And what with this new Shameless release, it's definetly worth getting.

Mill Creek has released it in the States as part of a 50-movie DVD set called "Sci-Fi Invasion."

This company usually grabs whatever grungy, scratched, color-faded VHS print they can find, but the print for this movie is pretty good for a company of this caliber. It's still a VHS transfer and is a full-screen presentation but Storaro's cinematography remains hypnotic even in this incarnation.
