Did Death Wish in the long run, ruin Charles Bronson's career?


At least from the standpoint of being taken seriously as an actor and not being typecast as a tough-guy vigilante?

I don't know, maybe. He probably should have stopped after part 2. If he had done that, he may not have been boxed into the "Paul Kersey" type of character.

Bronson was known for being difficult to work with. He was demanding and wanted things done a specific way at a specific time. Why do you think his wife Jill Ireland kept appearing in movies with him? She was a mediocre actress at best, but he demanded that she be given the roles. Bronson also viewed acting as a source of income, and not much more. I believe that’s why he kept making b movies with Cannon films. He had grown up poor, so the last thing he probably wanted was to take chances with his revenue. Ergo, he appeared in lower budget films that lacked prestige, but kept the cash coming.
