When that reporter asked him "Do you have any idea who killed the lawyer and his family" at the beginning...

... was it really a wise move of that man to push the reporter and say "That's a stupid question, get off my back", and why didn't the reporter retaliate or tell on the police for assault on him for that?

And besides, its not necessarily a stupid question.

Maybe if that man was innocent, maybe he had an idea who did it and who or for what reason someone may try to frame him, so he could co-operate with the media and then with the police to try and catch the real killer, no?

Could he not have just politely retorted with "I don't know" and move on, and what if the reporter went "Hey, don't push me.", what would happen then, cheers.

I think back then that media reporters hounding people accepted the risk in being assaulted whereas today there are serious repercussions if someone even touches a camera! I think his reaction and what he said was just for dramatic flair, but he could have simply been living up to his obnoxious personality as we see later on the road.
