He's definitely the best following Connery. I don't think we have a good idea of what Lazenby would have brought to the table since he only had one go at the role and it was in a pretty odd James Bond movie.

I know the Duran Duran song did better on the charts and I bet the more recent Bond songs did well also, but McCartney's contribution was IMO the best of a very solid lineup of songs involved with the franchise. Certainly better than Paul's contribution to Spies Like Us.
