Interesting interview with Susan George....

I never classified her in my mind as a particularly intelligent person...but it turns out she is!

She talks about the casting process, working with Sam Peckinpah and Dustin Hoffman (who was her polar opposite, which helped the film)....and how she walked out on "that scene".

Great interview and interesting storys.
I think most of us get wiser as we get a bit older. In this interview she is obviously older and more mature. I can remember a few guest spots she did on talk shows back in the 70's where she didn't always come off as the sharpest knife in the drawer. It may have been nerves back then though. Love this interview!

For me, I guess it's also the type of movies she made that kind of made me dismiss her.

I mean....MANDINGO (1975) ? ? ?

LOL! Yeah. Don't forget Dirty Mary Crazy Larry.

And ENTER THE NINJA.

I mean, I don't blame actors for taking shabby jobs because everyone wants to keep working. But on the other hand, she's never done anything that made me think, "Wow, she must be a really interesting person!"

Thanks---really enjoyed that interview, even though I have major issues with that scene, and the film in general. I'd read her account of how she handled the scene in the Peckinpah bio Bloody Sam, but she goes into even more detail here.

I just got around to watching this film for the first time. It's not even that I really hate the way that particular sequence is handled...I more hate how it's NOT handled. It's an all around mystifying mess; rather infuriating. What both the characters (Amy and Charlie) are experiencing, emotionally, during the rape is so unclear. It's a cop out, without depth one way or the other.
