Is the original the best Dirty Harry movie?

I think so. While the others have some great scenes, I think the original Dirty Harry is still the most gritty. It has the best villain anyway. What do you guys think?

I think all the sequels are mediocre and Dirty Harry is one of the greatest 70's cop films along with The French Connection and Serpico.

Maybe if Don Siegel had directed all of them they’d all be great.

I think Magnum Force is the best. The dropoff from that to Enforcer is steep and jarring. But Magnum Force has a screenplay by the great John Milius and Michael Cimino. The Enforcer doesn't and it shows.
