Home Schooling

We have tried this.

It can work as far as an academic education goes.

It denies a child of sociability.

reply

They didn't have much choice, though in the book the mother offered to send Peter to school the next year as he felt isolated.

reply

It does not deny children sociability, if they're allowed to go outside and mingle with other children in the neighborhood, the way children did a few decades ago, or if they're home schooled along with other children, or if they're involved in organized children's sports or other activities. All of the home schooled children I've encountered were more academically accomplished, more mature, and better socialized than most of their public schooled peers.
