Retroactive slap to the late Burt Lancaster

There have been many other examples of an actor badmouthing a film that fattened his wallet, but Lancaster’s “worst piece of junk ever made” barb may have been the worst.

To publicly bash a project he richly benefitted from, along with its talented cast and crew, surely places him in a hall of shame.

Well Burt made many great films, but this one was such a big production, he probably couldn't appreciate it through the trees. He had a limited role in the film and probably just took the money, said his lines and ran. We can appreciate it even though he didn't. Just like John Lennon bad-mouthed some great Beatle songs. Artists sometimes are too close to their work to even appreciate it.

Burt was too close to it to appreciative it, we can. Also he had a limited role and I couldn't stand those scenes with his nagging wife; that's probably why he hated it, having to listen to her.
