Jean Seberg's voluptuous bust...

I don't really understand how Jean Seberg's bust grew about two cup sizes for this movie. She was always around an A cup, but here she looks more like a C or D. Now, I know it's possible to pull some bra trickery (as they did with Sigourney Weaver in Galaxy Quest) but there is no way they would be able to boost Jean's tiny chest to the proportions she sports in this film. Does anyone know if she got implants before this movie?

There would have been other ways for the filmmakers to increase the appearance of her bust.

I go to reenactment events in garb aka costumes, complete with bodice. Bodices such as the corset she wears do wonders for any woman, no matter how little or how much she has!

Once, while at a shop at Bristol Renaissance Faire, a very slender lady had decided to purchase a dress, overskirt and bodice to join in the fun of the faire. Once garbed, she was given the usual instructions by the ladies of the shop: "Now, dearie, turn around (to the back of the shop), lean over, reach in and pull up! Now, stand up and look in the mirror!"

When she did, she gasped in wide-eyed surprise and cried out, looking downward at her new chest, "Where did those come from?!"

They told her, "You've always had them, dear! You just didn't know how to display them!"

Her husband, who had been observing the transformation and was leaning against a wall, arms folded across him, smiling faintly, grinned crookedly and said simply, "We'll take it~all of it." *giggle*

By the way, every time they created a transformation, the males passing by would pause to watch then~EVERY time~applaud, always causing the ladies to blush. *grin*

Go to a Renaissance or medieval faire, Rendezvous/fur trade-era encampment~but especially a faire (which is the proper spelling of such an event), and you'll see exactly what I mean. I've seen men totally ignore scantily clad tourist-type women and ogle the ladies in costumes.

Jean can thank her corset/bodice for her voluptuousness!

Truth be told, given the out-of-shape condition of many men's chests, such bodices could likely push up the MALE breasts with equal display. We just don't want to see it.

Anecdote: because "Paint Your Wagon" was a family musical, we took a grandmother to see it in 1969. When they reached the scene where the drunken Marvin tore Seberg's blouse down to those heaving breasts, grandma gasped and said " Filth!" She gasped again when Seberg pointed the gun at Marvin's genitals to fend him off.

Oh, well. A new era.

And this: back then when you saw a roadshow, reserved-seat movie like "Paint Your Wagon," you could buy(for a buck or two) a small glossy booklet about the movie and cast, etc.

For the page devoted to "JEAN SEBERG" with her biography and quotes on her role, the accompanying photo was of Seberg with her blouse torn down by Marvin.

I kept that booklet!

Implants in 1968?🐭

They have had breast implants since the late 19th century. Dow started producing silicone implants in the early '60's. Carol Doda, the first topless dancer who danced at the Condor in San Francisco where Sly Stone was in the house band got the most famous pair ever in the middle '60's. Doda passed away late last year.

An ex-girlfriend of mine had breasts that were somewhat diminutive--barely a B cup even on her most bloaty days. But she had a push-up bra that created the illusion of near-D boobs with deep cleavage. Marvelous engineering.

I lived in San Francisco in the '70s and worked downtown. I remember the place where Carol Doda was still performing. They had a neon sign out front depicting her, with red lights for nipples.

"She was always around an A cup"

I really don think so. In À Bout de Souffle, the famous Godard movie, her sweater is always kind of stretched. She's a C at minimum.

But, wow, what a scene.
